Meet The Team
Jon's engagement with aviation spans more than 30 years; from instructing on gliders with the Air Cadets in the early 1990's, to serving with the RAF Volunteer Reserve as a training officer, later earning an advanced diploma in Aeronautical Engineering. After completing his initial flying training in 2009, Jon went on to graduate from Bristol Ground School, Europe's leading provider of professional Airline Transportation Pilot License (ATPL) training.
With a career primarily in business, Jon has held leadership roles across a wide range of industries. From 2013 to 2015 he served as Amazon's foremost global expert in virtual technology, engagement and development. He later went on to lead Amazon's launch and integration of new Kindle devices across Europe and has more recently consulted for tech start-ups, helping them create effective operations.
Jon created AV8 Flight School after identifying the opportunity to provide professional and commercial unmanned flight training at a national and European level. By combining highly experienced aviation experts with flexible, student-centred instructional design and delivery, AV8 creates a new standard for unmanned aviation training, accessible to anyone.
Jon holds an Honours Degree in Business Administration, professional certifications in Computer and Data Science from Harvard University and is a fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. In his spare time he's a keen skier, SCUBA diver and photographer.

After completing a Masters degree in Experimental & Theoretical Physics at the University of Cambridge, Lilie worked for EADS Astrium (now Airbus Defence & Space) as a Processor Products Engineer, designing and testing technology for communications satellites. Her passion for flying led her to join the RAF as a pilot in 2009 where she later deployed on Operation HERRICK training future Afghan Air Force Pilots.
Lilie has amassed more than 900 flying hours on the MQ-9 Reaper, the RAF's primary remotely piloted air system, the majority of which was in support of Operation SHADER.
The most recent portion of her career has been dedicated towards working as a test and evaluation pilot in the Air Warfare Centre as a Qualified Trials Officer, assessing new and existing capabilities from Class 1b drones to the Protector, the RAF's future remotely piloted capability.
As well as studying for a second Masters degree in National Security Studies, Lilie has written extensively on the topic of the future of UAS capability for Air and Space Power Review and is currently undergoing professional helicopter training, further broadening her aviation and operational experience.
In addition to advising on technical and regulatory elements of AV8's courses, Lilie brings a wealth of operational, consultative and academic expertise that shapes the future of our specialist and advanced operational training programmes.
